22Jul Humans vs the world?

These days there is a lot to do about pollution, melting ice caps, endangering the wild life etc. I know everyone thought about it more than once it cant be ignored because its all over the news. Today I was thinking “What is the part of humans in this world?
The first thing that came up in my mind was that we are a virus! That isn’t very pleasant ;-). Let me en-light. Say the world is our body and the humans are the virus we suffer from. First there were a couple of humans, a small itch cant do any harm right? This itch grows in matter of time, very fast actually because if we look at the time line in the evolution the human race exploded like rabbits on a golf course. We almost live everywhere, we adjust in matter of seconds because we can with our big brains.
Now we have a problem? the body(world) we are living on is changing in a way we don’t want? That’s the way it is. When the situation is life threatening we have to “save the world” I think what we really mean is SAVE OURSELVES! This of course is a (natural) reaction. So that is what we are working on, making less pollution.
But is it enough? I really don’t have the answer to that, think no one really does. The only one who can tell us is mr. Time.

I have thought of my relation to the earth as having many similarities to the relationship between microorganisms and myself as well.
However, I think your theory is only addressing half of the issue; the dark half. Not all microorganisms are infectious or viral. And viruses often attack the cells which perform useful functions in our bodies, not necessarily our bodies itself.
The viral perspective could best be likened to the Buddhist principle of fundamental darkness (those thoughts that tell us that we can’t do something or we’re not good enough). But this darkness also has a counterpart in the light- the Buddha Nature, which is the greatest good an individual could manifest.
And we are like the cells that serve functions for the Earth (sometimes unwittingly). Those of us that have been “infected” by the darkness cease productivity and become like a virus or a cancer. The more of these negative people that appear, the more other people will follow them. The more people will forget what it means to be good and what their relationship to the earth is.
It us up to those who will preserve a quality relationship between the earth and its inhabitants to educate others on the importance of this matter.
Of course nothing is permanent, but that gives us no reason to disrespect our environments, for we depend on it more than it depends on us.
Perhaps the moral of the story is to lead a balanced life. Take as little as you need. Give as much as you can.

I like the way u think Andy. But of course this article is just my dark/sarcastic opinion. I don’t think humans and viruses are the same. And Humans vs the world isn’t exactly right. A better title would be “Humans in the environment they live in” but the title Humans vs the world was more catchy.
It’s just like u wrote, viruses often attack cells with useful functions in our body. So does the earth need clean air or a thick ozone layer? Don’t think the earth/world needs it, but we do and most other animals need it also. So the comparison isn’t that correct.
If we want to live as long as we can on this blue ball we should all do what u say “Take as little as you need. Give as much as you can”
The evolution/revolution will tell us. ( This is the age of repolution
